Bartlebooth in memoriam
“…the desire to capture, describe, exhaust, not the whole world –a project that is destined to fail from the outset– but a constituted fragment of it: in the face of the world’s inextricable incoherence, it will be then a question of realising a whole program, limited, no doubt, but full, intact, irreducible”. La vie, mode d’emploi. Georges Perec
Tolosa, the Basque Country, 1967. He lived for more than thirty years in Getxo, his adopted home. Nowadays he lives in Berastegi and works as a graphic editor for the newspaper El Diario Vasco. Bartlebooth In Memoriam is a work that reflects the transformation that an emblematic space in the centre of Las Arenas has undergone in recent years, a key place for the author and for many other people from Getxo.
