Barcelona, 1952. Photographer, theorist, critic and curator, Pere Formiguera has been a member of the Photography Department of the Fundació Joan Miró in Barcelona and nowadays is a member of the Advisory Council of the Photography Department in the National Art Museum of Catalonia (MNAC). His work forms part of very important collections, such as The Museum
of Modern Art (New York), Fonds Nationaux d’Art Contemporain (Paris), San Francisco Museum of Art (San Francisco), Polaroid Collection (Cambridge), MNCARS (Madrid), MACBA, MNAC, CCCB (Barcelona), and other private collections.
He presents Pare and Mare, a series that belong to Cronos, a project in which 32 models aged between 1 and 75 posed in front of his camera every month, over a 10-year period. This reflection upon the passing of time has a dual character, which is anthropological and at the same time artistic, that enables us to observe the subtle physical changes that the characters have undergone, while we contemplate their gaze, which in itself conveys the very essence of their humanity.
